Instructors:
Artashes Hovhannisyan
Composer of orchestral, chamber and piano works, teacher of all levels of theory, founder and director of the Euterpe School of Music Creation (Toronto, Canada), member of Armenian Composers Union since 2001.
Mr.Hovhannisyan studied composition at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1991-96 and from 1996-98 as a post-graduate student. Since 2002, after obtaining the French Government Scholarship, he did post-graduate studies in composition at the Académie Internationale Supérieure de Musique de Gaillard in Annemasse (France), and at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris Alfred Cortot where he earned the Higher Diploma in Composition, in 2003. From 2003 to 2005, Artashes did Master Degree studies in Ethnomusicology at the University Paris IV – Sorbonne (France).
In 1994, his “Akounq”, a choral suite on 3 Armenian songs earned the 3rd Prize at the Komitas International Competition for Folk and Spiritual Compositions held in Armenia. In 1995, with his Partite for piano he became the finalist of the Edward Grieg Memorial Competition for Composers in Oslo – Norway.
Artashes’s teaching career began at the Spendiarov Yerevan Music School in 1994, where he taught harmony and composition, successfully preparing students for auditions and examinations for the Yerevan State Conservatory. Later, from 1998 to 2000, he was an assistant professor in the Choral composing techniques at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. In France, along with studies, Artashes continued his career of a teacher and taught harmony, music theory and composition. Soon after moving to Canada, Artashes started promoting his main dream– establishing his own school of music. In 2007, after obtaining the Canadian Federal Government’s financial grant, his dream became true and the Euterpe School of Music Creation was created as a nurturing ground for music instruction, in which students discover, develop, realize and explore their creativity both in performance and composition.

Nune Ananyan
Piano, Vocal
Growing up in a musically oriented family, Nune started appreciating and loving music at a very early age. When she turned five, she joined Tigran Hekekyan’s choir in Armenia, giving concerts nearly every month in the Armenian Opera house. The Repertoire that consisted of songs in different genres, gradually developed her interest in folk, classical and jazz music. At the age of nine she entered the Armenian Academy of music and in 2005 the family moved to Canada, where she continued her studies. She performed and got involved in many competitions both piano and vocal within Royal Conservatory and also performed in musicals (Children of Eden) and Church Choirs. She graduated from Royal Conservatory, and received her ARCT diploma. She also completed her Bachelor degree in music at York University. There, she has won the Concerto Competition in 2013 by playing Khachaturian’s piano concerto.
Since 2009, Nune has been teaching piano, vocal and theory in music schools and privately.
Keren Barak
Theatre/Dance
Keren Barak is a graduate of the Victoria International Ballet Academy. She holds an Artiste de Ballet diploma and has been a full-time instructor since 2010. Upon graduation, Keren has participated in a variety of dance and theatre shows in York University and the Karpov Ballet Academy. She is trained in Classical and Contemporary Ballet, Character Dance, Hip-Hop, and Salsa. Keren is currently a full-time student at York University completing her Devised Theatre and Film Degree. Her passion has always been performance, and Keren constantly seeks new mediums for expressing her art. She is very enthusiastic in igniting this passion in her students and is always exploring different ways of finding this love for dance in everyone who comes her way.
